The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has intensified its law enforcement presence across the Territory in response to a recent uptick in robberies and the escape of two dangerous inmates from His Majesty’s Prison.

Over the past 24 hours, officers have conducted a series of high-visibility patrols and stop-and-check operations aimed at deterring criminal activity and reinforcing public safety. These efforts have led to the recovery of two firearms and the arrest of three males.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool commended officers for their continued vigilance and decisive action in maintaining public safety.

“The RVIPF remains fully engaged in both the ongoing manhunt and in tackling the recent spate of robberies. Our officers are working around the clock to disrupt criminal activity, recover illegal weapons, and ensure that residents feel safe in their communities.

We continue to rely on the public’s cooperation as we bring offenders to justice,” said Acting Commissioner Vanterpool.

Residents are once again urged not to approach the escaped prisoners, identified as Jose Almestica and John Burgos, but to contact police immediately at 368-9339, 311or through Crimestoppers at 800-8477, if seen or if they have any information regarding their whereabouts.

The RVIPF also advises residents to remain vigilant, secure homes and properties, refrain from leaving keys in vehicles, and ensure that all vehicles are properly locked at all times.
